What a parrot needs!!

Below is a list of the things your parrot needs to be a healthy and happy companion.

.) High Quality food.

.) Varied perches (3 to 4  on average per cage)

.) Large cage big enough that your bird can spread out there wings with toys and perches in the cage and not touch toys or the cage. Please e-mail me if you have a question in regards to the size of cage needed for a species of bird. I am still working on a page that will list different species and minimum cage size.

.) Toys (3 to 4 that are changed out at the very least weekly with different toys)

.) At least 2 showers a week, but also note that the amount of baths per week can vary from species to species. Check with an Avian Veterinarian to be sure.

.) Fresh Fruit and vegetables DAILY!!

.) Daily time out of there cage.

.) Daily interaction with you.

.) Continued training and guidance to acceptable behavior.

.) Socialization with other people, animals and new things/situations. This is very important to African Grey's.

.) Routine Vet care and testing at least once a year. This gives your Vet important information about your bird and there health.

.) Routine Grooming. Birds should have there nails done every 8 weeks to keep them maintained. Wings should also be clipped regularly but the time frame can vary from bird to bird. Please ask us or your Vet if you need to know how to properly trim wing feathers.
